Boating Story
My crew member Larry many years ago had a sail boat, 33′ Choy Lee, and wanted to sail it to Hawaii. With not a lot of boating experience he talked a friend that new nothing about sailing to go along. No GPS or Loran in those days so he bought a plastic sextant and a book on how to navigate. Off they go. He tried to read the book but got sea sick every time he tried to read. Finally he got his sea legs and was able to read. The first sighting went like this, he told his friend that he had good news and not so good news. I know where we are, just south of Chicago!!!! By now the auto pilot had given out and his friend really started to wonder why he was there! Long story short they made it to Hawaii and back. A few years later sailed again to Hawaii on his Caulkins 50 Sabrina, now back at the San Diego Yacht Club, with no problems.
